We All Stumble<\/p>\n\n\n\n
James 3:2 For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The fire triangle of fuel + oxygen + heat (ignition) are necessary for there to be fire. \u201cWe all stumble,\u201d we\u2019re all capable of starting the fire. Can we remove an element if the other person is trying to light up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the Emergency Response world, it\u2019s not unusual to meet people on the worst day of their lives. It\u2019s not unusual for a person to have unrealistic expectations for the outcome of their loved one\u2019s medical emergency. At this point in their life, there is nothing else happening on the whole planet except for the mission of saving their loved one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sometimes, we\u2019re the hands that deliver the miracle. Sometimes, we\u2019re the last touch before their soul leaves. It\u2019s not unusual for a companion to \u201cdump\u201d on the medic. \u201cWhy are you stopping? What took you so long to get here? You look like you\u2019re a teenager (some of my partners were in their early 20\u2019s). Do you even know what you\u2019re doing? Can\u2019t you shock them or something?\u201d But what if you live with the \u201coffended\u201d party? \u201cWe all stumble.<\/em> . .\u201d And we all control part of the triangle. Whether it was me, or occasionally, my bride that erred on something, is it worth the flames to vindicate myself? We quickly learn not to take attacks like this personally. We recognize that emotions are adding the fuel, the situation is the oxygen and all we have to do is start defending ourselves in order to add the spark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
